It’s all happening in Goondiwindi in the coming months. With Christmas decorations already hitting the shops, no wonder the town is starting to feel festive. Add to that the wonderful warm weather we’ve been having and you’ve got yourself the perfect combination for some town events.
Next month, is the punters month with Melbourne Cup Day on the 5th of November. Goondiwindi is always keen on this day with businesses participating in Calcutta rounds between staff and friends. The pubs fill up with well dressed patrons placing their bets. Kaloma home for the Aged also will be running a fundraiser at lunch time on this day called ‘Kaloma Charity Melbourne Cup Lunch’ held at Corish garden on Oakhole Road. On the day you can expect to see Goondiwindi and district community members glamorously celebrating Melbourne Cup Day.
December is always a huge month in Goondiwindi with lots of exciting opportunities to be festive. Kicking off the celebrations will be Christmas Carol’s at the Community Center on the 8th of December. Then, on the 19th December, always a town favourite is the Late Night Shopping. This is an annual event, with shops along Marshall and Herbert Street staying open until late. The night will include additional entertainment, stalls with beautiful gifts to purchase, and food and drinks also available.
Every year, the Lions Club Goondiwindi host the Christmas Eve in the park celebrations. This event is extremely family friendly as you can bring your picnic blanket and enjoy the fun into the night under the stars with your loved ones. Lions go through the effort to organise Santa Claus to make an appearance, fireworks, food and drinks and much more.
Goondiwindi take pride in the community events that take place and hope to be yet again successful in all areas of keeping this towns members involved at all times. New members of the community are always welcomed, and of course surrounding town members who love to come to Goondiwindi to celebrate in our beautiful town.
